Cars are finally catching up with our smartphones.
Today, Applied Intuition and Stellantis announced a collaboration to deliver intelligent in-vehicle infotainment (IVI) across the automaker’s worldwide brands. By deeply integrating with all layers of a vehicle’s operating system, the IVI platform makes the cabin experience as seamless as using a smartphone—unlocking personalized experiences based on the driver’s preferences, easy feature updates, and a premium brand experience.
The new technology comes just in time.
For years, drivers have found infotainment systems frustrating—slow to respond, difficult to navigate, and rarely personalized. Automakers have felt this as well, spending large sums on built-in IVI solutions that are difficult to update and outdated once they hit the market. For car companies, the stakes of getting infotainment right are high. According to a 2025 survey by McKinsey & Company, 38% of car owners in Germany said they might switch brands for a better digital experience.
To solve this challenge, Applied Intuition and Stellantis collaborated to create an intelligent IVI platform that enables the global automaker to build customized experiences for each of its 14 brands in a cost-efficient way. Powered by Applied Intuition’s new Cabin Intelligence software and tooling, Stellantis’ single platform can tailor infotainment across brands, including screen layout, interface design, entertainment features, and language localization. The engagement is setting a new benchmark for what’s possible in digital experiences.
“Drivers now expect their cars to understand them—how they move, how they feel—and adapt in real time to their lives,” said Qasar Younis, Co-founder and CEO of Applied Intuition. “With Stellantis, Applied Intuition is proud to announce a multi-year program that empowers designers across 14 global brands to customize the in-cabin digital experience. Together, we’re pushing the boundaries of what a modern digital experience can and should be.”
Introducing Cabin Intelligence Across Industries
Cabin Intelligence, a new suite of software and tooling from Applied Intuition, offers a range of cabin experiences beyond infotainment—and even beyond automotive.
The platform draws on Applied Intuition’s cross-industry experience in automotive, defense, mining, construction, agriculture, and trucking. This unique perspective enables Applied Intuition to deliver the best possible human machine interface (HMI) experience—whether in a car, truck, or aircraft—and its engineers are developing it to solve customer needs.
In mining, Cabin Intelligence can optimize route assignments for trucks based on operator experience. In construction, it can offer coaching tips based on operator knowledge level. In agriculture, it can help tractor operators oversee drones gathering crop data. In defense, it can reduce cognitive load, accelerating the warfighter’s ability to make decisions quickly. And for your morning commute? It can automatically map you to the office while playing the daily news podcast, preorder your coffee on the way, and pull up your top playlist for the relaxing drive home.
Unlike traditional black box cabin solutions that are expensive and time-consuming to personalize, Cabin Intelligence is a fully customizable, white box vehicle OS platform that enables OEMs to build a range of branded experiences at scale. Manufacturers can personalize the digital experience of any brand in any region, deliver intelligent new features, and support personalized navigation, content, and control—all without sacrificing flexibility or cost. This is beyond remembering seat settings. Cabin Intelligence learns a driver’s habits and routes, and then anticipates future needs to deliver a premium, customized experience.
Cabin Intelligence offers:
- Customization at scale: OEMs have the tooling and SDK integrations to tailor interface layouts, applications, navigation stacks, and brand-specific content for any model and region, delivering distinct branded experiences on a single, cost-efficient platform without rewrites or expensive custom projects. The white box approach and developer SDK give automakers control to customize and update their user experience.
- Vehicle-aware intelligence: Navigation knows what vehicle is in use, choosing routes based on the vehicle's powertrain and job, and optimizing based on all available data. It supports tailored advanced driver-assistance system (ADAS) features, including integrated ADAS visualization and safety-critical alert systems that enhance user trust and overall experience.
- Autonomy and ADAS integration: Cabin Intelligence integrates end to end with ADAS and autonomy systems, powering everything from hands-free driving to fleet automation. It is built to support passenger cars, trucks, specialty vehicles, defense platforms, and mining rigs, reflecting global scale and proven adaptability.
- Full-stack transparency: Applied Intuition’s platform gives OEMs visibility, integration flexibility and validation control over every system layer. This enables global compliance, efficiency, and ongoing competitive differentiation.
- Seamless OTA updates: Easy, over-the-air feature updates bring new digital experiences and continuous safety improvements to every vehicle. This ensures the entire fleet stays current and secure, and removes the traditional trade-off between affordability and flexibility.
Driving a New Digital Future
Cabin Intelligence is designed to evolve experiences at the pace of technology, particularly autonomy.
The platform, for instance, knows a driver’s specific vehicle type. As a result, it can customize navigation to fit a driver’s exact needs. If a person drives an electric vehicle, for instance, it routes them by charging stations when needed. If they drive an 18-wheeler, it won’t recommend a U-turn where it isn’t feasible. And as cars become increasingly autonomous, Cabin Intelligence can create entirely new types of in-vehicle experiences—immersive sensations that surround the driver and open up more possibilities in motion.
“Cabin Intelligence helps OEMs deliver an intuitive experience for drivers and operators in a range of vehicle types, from cars to construction trucks to mining rigs,” said Peter Ludwig, Co-founder and CTO of Applied Intuition. “It’s part of our ongoing mission to build a world in which your vehicle knows you deeply—creating safer, smarter, and more delightful experiences for everyone.”
