Applied Intuition Achieves Full Partner Integration on Northrop Grumman’s Talon IQ Autonomous Testbed

Acuity Air Combat Autonomy deployed to Talon IQ aircraft in flight test

April 16, 2026

MOJAVE, Calif. — Applied Intuition, Inc., the leading physical AI company, today announced a milestone flight test demonstrating native, framework-level AI integration aboard the Northrop Grumman Talon IQ™ autonomous testbed. Unlike standalone autonomy swaps, Applied Intuition’s Acuity Air Combat Autonomy software was embedded directly within Northrop Grumman’s Prism™ advanced Mission Autonomy framework, successfully commanding mission-critical maneuvers and executing a mid-flight transition of control to a secondary ecosystem partner.

The flight demonstrates the fulfillment of an open-architecture vision for next-generation aviation autonomy. By using standard government reference architectures, Applied Intuition is demonstrating how physical AI can integrate into a collaborative combat ecosystem bridging traditionally segregated software and hardware providers. Applied Intuition’s Acuity software successfully executed complex, operationally relevant tasks, proving the viability of a modular, multi-vendor autonomy model.

“Modern air combat demands systems that are interoperable and continuously evolving, and this flight test shows how physical AI can plug directly into an aircraft, execute mission-critical behaviors, and transition control seamlessly across partners,” said Peter Ludwig, co-founder and CTO of Applied Intuition. “With Northrop Grumman, we are unlocking a new standard for collaborative autonomy.”

During the flight test, Acuity commanded the Scaled Composites’ Model 437 aircraft after being integrated into Northrop Grumman’s Prism™ Mission Autonomy Software. Acuity executed mission-representative behaviors within Prism™ and the system reliably translated autonomous intent into Flight Autonomy commands to the platform before safely and seamlessly swapping control to a second ecosystem partner—all within a single flight.

The successful demonstration validates Northrop Grumman’s open architecture vision: multiple vendors’ autonomy stacks operating on a shared, flight-proven platform without interruption or extensive re-integration. By aligning with government reference architecture standards, Acuity and Prism™ prove that third party mission autonomy solutions can be rapidly developed, tested in hardware in the loop environments, and deployed to live airborne testbeds.
